I've been afraid to tell you this so I'm making a cake that explains...

April Is Autism And Acceptance Month and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day

I've really had a lot of struggles growing up as a girl with undiagnosed autism. Everything from failures in school, jobs and other life skills. I was diagnosed late but at least I have an explanation for why it's been so hard. At first, I was excited and then I was afraid to tell anyone. Today I decided why hide? Maybe it will help the next generation understand Autism more. Please help by sharing this video or others like it. Consider doing some research on Autism so that you can educate more people. Consider giving to Autism charities as well! Today you will see a lot of people wearing blue, red and puzzles. These are symbols of who we are and the change we might have on society.

*Autism is considered a spectrum because it comes in all varieties and degrees.
*The only common thing among us is that our brains have non-typical thinking patterns.
*There is no cure for Autism because it's a developmental disability and there is no single known cause.
*Autism is still stigmatized and shamed and this is why we need awareness and acceptance.
Oh and a few other things Autistic people would like you to know...
Autism does not mean lack of empathy!
Autistics can sometimes learn to cope in an NT world but it comes with a lot of struggles.
Not everyone on the spectrum has the same symptoms or abilities as one another.
You can help make living in this world a little easier but using clear language, giving time for response and understanding that our actions and needs might be different than yours because we are experiencing the world differently than you.
